Things I've learnt about...
Recent lessons which have taken varying times from 5 minutes to 19 years to learn.
…about work
It doesn’t matter what job I have, if it’s a means to an end or not. There will always be days that make you want to go live in a secluded hermit hut. If I enjoy doing the small things (like writing on the specials board) and smile, it is much more pleasurable, for me and everyone else!
…about family
They may be emotionally retarded, have “self” issues or regularly stand on a soapbox, but they are always going to be at the end of a phone line, at home when you drop in or there to tell you that the person who bought you those pyjamas must dislike you. (Thanks, Dad)
…about bestfriends
Never have just one, and if you do, don’t shut off your other friends completely. Your best friend might find their life partner and all of a sudden they’re calling someone else twice a day and don’t need your input on every purchase of socks.
…about the cello
I’ll be needing lessons.
…about cars
They will get damaged, and no, it’s not worth repairing it.
…about travelling alone
I can do it.
…about motivation
I need it.
…about musicians
There will always be someone better than you so your best shot is to do what you want.
…about the affordability of housing
Affordability is the wrong word
…about being nineteen
I need to remind myself I am only nineteen.
